Spherical Image Posting Project “Spherical Report 360” will start.

Ricoh will start “Spherical Report 360” (abbreviated name: SR360), RICOH THETA’s spherical image posting project, on the website of CNN, North American news broadcasting station, on May 1.
The purpose of this project is to explore new expression methods and possibilities of news photos and familiar report photos by utilizing RICOH THETA.
We would like you to post familiar news photos taken using RICOH THETA to the special page which is open to the public. We will select excellent images presenting new potential and will award photographers during the round-table discussion to be held in September. This project is a contest giving everyone the opportunity to become a citizen journalist. You are cordially invited to participate in the project.

We will offer RICOH THETA free of charge to 360 people (residents of the US only) who do not have RICOH THETA and also wish to participate in the project as monitors.

＜Outline＞

  • Application for free monitor of 360 units of RICOH THETA (limited to residents of the US)
    • ・Application: March 24 to April 10, 2014
    • ・The product will be delivered to the successful candidates by the end of April after careful selection. (The winners will receive the product without prior announcement.)
      * Those who posted a certain number of images during the project period can continue to use the RICOH THETA as is even after the project ended.
  • Content of Project
    • ・Image posting period: May 1 to August 31, 2014
      (Limited only to spherical images photographed with RICOH THETA. Posting from outside the US is also accepted. However, the special site is written in English.)
    • ・How to post images: Post from the Spherical Report 360 special site. Posted images will be open to the public.
    • ・A monthly MVP will be selected and announced every month during the period.
    • ・In September, the commendation ceremony and round-table discussion will be held in Los Angeles, CA. The top 3 prize winners will be invited to the ceremony.

･Each prize and supplementary prize

  • ・Grand Prix goes to 1 person. (Supplementary prize: Single lens reflex camera, PENTAX K-3 18-135WR kit)
  • ・Gold prize goes to 2 people. (Supplementary prize: Compact camera, RICOH GR Limited Edition)
  • ・Monthly MVP goes to 4 people. (Supplementary prize: Multifunction watch, RICOH COMMANDER)

･Juries

  • When the project starts on May 1, juries will be listed on the special site.
    (However, monthly MVPs are selected by the project members.)
