Function Restrictions in Japan for “RICOH THETA Z1 51GB”

A partial revision of the “Ordinance Concerning Terminal Facilities Etc.” came into force on April 1, 2020 based on the “Ministerial Ordinance for Partial Revision of Ordinance Concerning Terminal Facilities Etc. and Ordinance Concerning Chief Telecommunications Engineers” announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Japan to change IoT device security standards.

Due to this change, it is not possible to use functions via the client mode in plug-ins developed for “RICOH THETA Z1 51GB” sold by Ricoh in Japan (model with serial number starting from “YN35”). Developers who are creating plug-ins for “RICOH THETA Z1 51GB” should be aware of this fact.

Especially the setting change in Wireless LAN control of RICOH THETA under plug-in telecommunication feature is prohibited.

– ON/OFF setting change of Wireless LAN

– ON/OFF setting change of Sleep mode (as it works under ON/OFF setting change of Wireless LAN)

– Setting change of Sleep time (as it works under ON/OFF setting change of Wireless LAN)

– Manual connection or shut down of Wireless LAN

– Channel setting

– Switching 2.4GHz/5GHz
